in colour and elastic in texture. It has a mild, slightly
salty and buttery taste.
Mozzarella is used to add texture rather than a specific taste to a dish. It is best used for snacking or in cooking. It is easily shredded, sliced or cubed and melts and stretches in long strands. It browns at high temperatures.
This cheese is very versatile in salads, sandwiches,
omelets, “au gratin”, on hors d’ouvres, as a snack,
and with pasta dishes. Mozzarella is great in pizza,
lasagna, and hamburger dishes.
Try pairing with olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red peppers or crusty bread.
Try mozzarella with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, light-bodied Pinot Noir wines or beer.
